Megan Simon, DVM

Dr. Megan Simon is the newest associate at Country Place Veterinary Clinic. She graduated from Comeaux High School, Lafayette, Louisiana in 2013. After attending University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the Pre-vet program from 2013 to 2015, she was accepted to Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Megan received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 as the youngest in her class. A four week externship at Capital Veterinary Specialists in Tallahassee, Florida was a fun filled, intense learning experience. A second externship with Dr. Dac at Maurice Veterinary Clinic reinforced her plan to offer equine and large animal services to her clients. After graduation, Dr. Megan did her preceptorship at Country Place Veterinary Clinic. She has found her niche as her interest focuses on large animal medicine, caring for small family backyard livestock, and pocket pets/exotics as well as working internal medicine cases.

Dr. Megan is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, and the Acadiana Area Veterinary Association. She shares her home with Mouse and Luna who are seven and five year old cats that were adopted as orphans. Lincoln is a four year old German Wirehair that she adopted while in school; he was an official certified blood donor for the hospital. A three year old female Quaker parrot named Kevin rounds out the household. Kevin was named after the bird in the movie “Up.”

Giving back to the community means working with 4-H and FFA livestock programs, working to educate livestock owners on preventative medicine, and volunteering for the Parish Rabies Clinic. Painting offers her a way to wind down at the end of the day and achieve relaxation.
